9pm update ...

Eliana just woke up from a long nap.  I thought it best to let her sleep.  She is burning up.  Temp over 104 again..  I fixed her a bottle - which she wanted.  She drank a small amount - less than an ounce - and then threw up.  :-(  My poor sweet baby.  I hate that she feels so badly.

Please pray for her health and for wisdom as we treat her.  Pray that this would pass quickly from her - and not  pass to the rest of the family!

On a personal note, I've committed to do some things the next couple of days and I'd love wisdom on how to either do them, ask others to do them or just let them go.  I know my friends will understand.

Off to be with my baby,

Leslie

  1. I remember visiting your blog before (I think I came over from the FIAR boards this summer) and I remember reading about your sweet baby girl because we had hoped to use the same name if our last had been a girl.

Praying for your precious little girl tonight.

    Blessings,

    Theresa

  2. Dear Leslie,

God's precious Eliana Joy is going to be alright!

Sounds like it probably is a gastrointestinal bug, and the presence of fever just means that her body is doing what it is supposed to do! It is fighting off the virus or bad bacteria, and one of ways it does this is with heat. Heat kills bacteria. I understand that it is scarier because she has had some big challenges that your other babies never had. What a caring doctor you have to take you after hours and then be so thorough in checking her over!!

I'm having to learn trust and patience and flexibility this week, as Justin is quite sick with bronchiolitis. He had a "typical" cold for a week, but then it attacked his vulnerable respiratory system. Poor guy coughs and wheezes and draws hard for his breath at times. When I listen to his lungs with our stethoscope, there are harsh grating sounds and wheezy whistles. Plus, he has his first ever ear infection. So, he is on an antibiotic for that and then on prednisolone to reduce inflamation in his lungs and two kinds of nebulizer breathing treatments to open up the tight bronchioles. I don't like to give him so much meds. And they make him jittery and impossible to comfort at times, which is so unlike our usual calm and easy going guy. Plus, my two oldest daughters and 10 yr. old son and I have been sick. It began with a sore throat and low grade fever and feeling achy all over for 24 hrs. But the sore throat has continued for days, along with some congestion, and the girls have had ear ache. My son had a headache. I was afraid it was strep throat. My husband took one daughter to the doctor, today, because we felt we needed to know --- she babysits a 12 mo. old ... and then there is Justin with his uncorrected CHD. Praise God, she tested negative for strep!

Now 6 yr. old Alana seems to be getting it. And my 13 yr. old son walks around with the neck of his shirt pulled up over his mouth and nose trying not to breathe the contaminated air. lol. I now have laryngitis, but I can still "talk" online! :-D

Well, it is certainly has been a long week! And it is not over yet. And Justin is taking too long, it seems, to get over this. But it is a reminder that we live in a fallen world, and we know that our Redeemer lives!! And one day, all sickness and disease and physical defects and sorrow and SIN will be no more!!! JESUS IS the VICTOR!

    Love,

    Anna
