Carolina Tiger Rescue

Yes, I'm still playing catch-up.  I'm getting closer though.  LOL  This was one of our fall field trips to Carolina Tiger Rescue.

You can read more about it here.   A great place to visit if you are local.  This is our second time visiting this place and seeing these amazing creatures just never gets old!
As a Clemson grad, I have a fondness for these majestic animals too.  :-)
We learned about what the animals eat and how they are cared for.  All of these animals have been rescued from a variety of situations - some of them really awful.  Many of them were owned by individuals who at some point realized that they were not able to care for this type of wild animal.
A serval.
A cage on the site for humans.  The kids liked getting inside.  There were several of these on the site in the event that an animal got loose from their cage.  It was a safe place to remain until the animal had been returned to its living quarters.
These are binturongs.  I had a hard time getting a good photo through the wire.  You can visit the website above for more photos.
A white tiger.  I think this one was my favorite.  Such a beautiful animal!
Looking fierce - it was a yawn though and not a growl.
She wasn't really sure that she wanted to pose near the tiger's cage.

After our field trip, we went to Jordan Lake for a picnic lunch and some play time.  It was a beautiful fall day - really more like late summer as it was so nice out!  The kids had a great time playing in the sand and water.  I found that baby powder really does do a great job in removing sand from the skin of a little girl that was covered!
I love seeing the bigger kids enjoying their time too.  Field trips are fun and informative for all ages.  Time to play, socialize and hang out with friends is too!

Holiday posts coming soon  - Thanksgiving, birthday and Christmas!

Blessings
Leslie
