Tomorrow, Nov 7th, our family will be participating in the Walk to Cure Diabetes. This is sponsored by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Joshua has been looking forward to this walk for many months. We started talking about it when he was in the hospital. He is familiar with "walks" because we go to the local Buddy Walk (supporting Down syndrome) each year.
Here is a note from Joshua.
I think the walk is going to be fun. I hope that the JDRF gets more money so that they can find a cure for diabetes. I hate diabetes. I don't like getting shots and pokes. I want to be able to have food whenever I want it.
I know that money is tight and that there are many worthy causes. I do feel the need to share this one though as it is important to us and many other families as well. If you are interested in sponsoring Joshua, please go to this link.

You can type in his name Joshua Nelsen and state and his page should come up for you. Our team name is "Joshua's Fan Club" which should also show on the site.

Finding Jesus: A Christmas Miracle
Hi Leslie,
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get his info to show up on the walk page. Any suggestion?
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI'd love to help. If you want to donate, this is what you need to do. Click on the link and there will be a box on the left side of the screen that is labeled Walk Central Login on the top and Donate on the bottom.
Fill in Joshua Nelsen (check the spelling of our last name!) for the first and last names and then NC for the state.
This will take you to a new page. It looks like it hasn't found him as there will be another form to do a search for a walker. Under this search form is a blue strip and under that should be Joshua's name and team. If you click on his name, it will take you to his page.
Alternately, you could type in Joshua's Fan Club and it will also bring up his information.
I hope this helps. Feel free to call or email me if you can't get it to work!
Blessings
Leslie
Hey Leslie...God has just really been putting Joshua on my heart...I wanted to encourage him...
ReplyDeleteSo...if you could pass this on...I'd appreciate it!
Joshua,
Ya know...names are often very purposeful...God is the one who names us...and what a name you have!!! Joshua! What a powerful person he was in the Bible! He was one who had faith...he didn't look at the situation as everyone else did...When him, Caleb and others went into the promised land to scope it out...most of the people were afraid of what they saw and gave a bad report. But Joshua and Caleb saw the promises of God...they saw the situation with God in it...and gave a great report. You know...God is able to do more than we can ask or imagine...and He does work out all things for the good of those who love Him! I am so proud of you for stepping out in faith and doing this walk! I know God and your family and others are too...remember...God is God...and truly does do miracles! I am sorry that you have to have all those shots...and can't eat anything you want...I can't imagine...as I really don't like shots either. I am 28 years old and I have to have my husband hold my hand just to get my blood drawn! But I pray that God will show up in mighty ways in your life...and in this walk you are about to do!!! God bless you!!!!
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
I still couldn't get it to work...any suggestions?
