The Family Toolbox with Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller, RN, BSN is a program for both parents and teens. There are 8 lessons which each contain 2 important principles. First the parents spend time watching a segment designed for them which is about 10 minutes. Then there is a second video which you watch with your teens. Its a short 1-2 minute dramatization of a scene that may be happening in your own home or perhaps with actions and attitudes that look familiar.
After watching the video, there are questions for you to answer together in order to discuss what you have seen and how you think that things might be improved. There are Bible verses incorporated in the lesson as well to help guide you into making wise choices.
You end with a prayer and encouragement to work on something together as a family.
What I like about this program:
*The focus is on their heart. This is where true and meaningful change takes place rather than just on external behavior.
*The sessions are short so that you can easily find time in your week to incorporate the lessons.
*The videos give you an opportunity to look at the behavior of others and discuss how things might have been handled better or differently. I find this to be a great method because it does not put you or your children on the defensive as sometimes happens when you are talking about an incident in your own family.
*Practical suggestions that you can implement right away.
I'm excited to have the opportunity to try this out with our family. These are lessons that we need to help us through some of the challenges we are currently facing. What a blessing to be able to have this resource to help us to improve our family.
Be sure to join us at the Official Facebook Party on Thursday Oct 16 at 8pm ET.
There will be additional information as well as prizes!
