This looks just lovely. The...What a special time! This looks just lovely. The Lord has brought you to mind several times lately, and I was happy to see this post from you. I'm glad you have had some fun and special times during this season, even while your heart is grieving. Grief and joy can be an odd combination. I have a dear friend here who was on a path to adopt two little boys from Russia. They made two trips to Russia, and on their very first meeting her heart and their hearts were just completely interwoven. She truly felt like their mama right away. Two years and much heartache later, one of the boys was adopted right out from under them by a Russian family (which takes precedence over foreigners) and the other boy was deemed to be special needs (no specific diagnosis, just general being "behind" due to being institutionalized) and therefore unadoptable. Her heart was broken. The second boy will live in an orphanage until he is 16 and then turned out to the street. Literally. How can that be God's plan? She will never understand it, but she has found a place of rest in God's sovereignty. As difficult as that adoption road was, God pretty much literally dropped two little *girls* from Russia into their laps two years later. The doors just flew open, it was so easy. Not their plan, but God's. The girls are quite a bit younger than the boys were, so they had to make some big adjustments, but those girls are the sunshine of our whole church! It is hard for her to live with the joy and gratitude of God giving Kate and Anna to her, along with the pain of losing Sasha and Yuri, but God gives her daily grace to live with both. She prays daily for the sons of her heart, and sends letters and gifts each year on his birthday. She cannot tell him how hard they tried to adopt him, but she can tell him that he is loved and that he is special. And perhaps that will make all the difference in his life, even though he is being raised in an orphanage.

I'm sorry this got so long, but I just wanted to encourage you that the daily prayers and the love you pour into your little "daughter of the heart" across the miles IS making a difference in her life. And God will certainly open other doors and make His way clear for your future. And give you daily grace to live with both grief and gratitude.

You are in my prayers.

Blessings,

Pam in SE MIAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7757692076937665492.post-69918947843322097952009-12-28T17:14:16.000-05:002009-12-28T17:14:16.000-05:00Leslie,This looks like so much fun!
